The Ashburton Lyndhurst Irrigation Ltd Board received an 82% in favor vote in November 2012 to upgrade the Irrigation Scheme, which includes the creation of ponds, piping a substantial part of the Scheme to deliver water under pressure, and the installation of new telemetry so that the delivery of water can be monitored electronically. These upgrades were necessary to maintain a scheme that is achieving efficiency in the use of water, minimising water loss through inaccurate deliveries, seepage into races, transportation times, evaporation, and also delivering water under pressure.
Scheme Maps and Detailed Farm Maps
All pipe routes are indicative only. A full on ground survey of route feasibility will be undertaken at the detailed design stage in conjuction with extensive land owner consultation. The location of offtakes and ponds are also subject to change pending survey and consultation. Some pipelines delivering water to smaller blocks and subdivisions are not shown on these plans but will form part of the final solution given certain criteria are met.
